What happens if we cannot think rational with everyday decision making?
What happens with Sympathetic Dominance ? What does it mean to me? How does it affect my health?
With a sympathetic dominance nervous system we see increased muscle tone, increased blood pressure and papillary changes. The blood flows away from internal organs into musculature, blood flows away from the frontal cortex to the hind brain or Limbic system.
What does THIS mean to me?
The frontal cortex is home of thinking and reasoning. The limbic system is where all emotions manifest. The limbic system is the reflexive and impulsive part of our brain with limited capacity to rationally think about our words or behaviours.
If we cannot think rationally, then what happens? We experience an emotionally driven life with less ability to deal effectively with all the stresses in our lives.
The Central Nervous System (CNS) and Peripheral Nervous System (PNS) control the autonomic sympathetic and parasympathetic responses in the body. They coordinate instantly all the physiological changes observed in the environment including stressful events.
The spinal cord is part of the CNS and plays an integral role in the distribution of the stress response signals to all surrounding cells, tissues and organs.
The pain in your body is the result of continuous stressors accumulating.
Where do you think you fit? Do you think you are using your frontal cortex to make day-to-day decisions stress? Or, do you think you are using your limbic, emotional brain? Click here to see if your nervous system has been exposed or is experiencing too much stress.
